Welcome to Prague Choral Festival 2016

We are excited to announce our 10th anniversary season with a festival that will take place in Prague, Czech Republic from July 6 to July 14, 2016.

Dr. Ryan Board and Dr. Matthew Mehaffey, two outstanding American conductors will return to Prague for the second time to lead festival singers in concerts culminating in a gala featuring Carl Orff’s Carmina burana. In addition, Prague Te deum 1989, an outstanding composition by the late Czech composer Petr Eben for choir, organ and percussion, and Johannes Brahms’ masterpiece Nänie for choir and two pianos will also be performed. An organ virtuoso Dana Kosinová from Czech Republic will present two organ masterpieces by Jehan Alain and Leoš Janáček. The gala concert will take place in Prague’s Smetana Hall on July 12 at 7:30 pm. Many American and Czech choruses will participate. In total there will be over 300 performers on stage - one of the largest choirs that ever assembled in Smetana Hall’s history!

Two other choral concerts will be offered this year, in which Czech and American choirs will perform their selected repertoire under their choral directors’ baton.
The first concert will take place in České museum hudby (Karmelitská 2/4, Praha 1) on Sunday, July 10th, 2016 at 8 pm. The second choral concert will take place in St. Salvator church (Salvátorská 1, Praha 1) on Monday, July 11, 2016 at 8 pm. Both concerts are offered free of charge.
